Happy Sunday!!! ☀️ Spent the day enjoying my Happy Sunday!!! ☀️ Spent the day enjoying my beautiful backyard 🌴 The weather here is beautiful- low 70’s 💗💗 Thankful today for the beautiful outdoors, this cool breeze - I even found a floating Christmas 🎄 tree! 😂 (only in florida!) 💗 If you haven’t been outside today, you still have time!! 🕰 So many people can’t go outside for different reasons - if there is something I learned from being in the hospital with patients is how much they valued the outdoors and just being outside 💗 It’s like that old saying, You don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone..definitely the theme for 2020! 💗 Enjoy the last few hours of the weekend! 💗 Stay Healthy, Hopeful & Happy! Things I don’t love about Covid is wearing all o Things I don’t love about Covid is wearing all of this PPE (though thankful to have it for sure!) 😷 But I miss smiling at the kids 😀 I thought my patients would be scared of me looking like an 👽 But...it turns out that they didn’t even blink! ❤️ I get a lot of squinty eyes over masks (2020’s version of a smile) and babies still smile when I use my “Elmo voice” 😂 Kids are just amazing ❤️ They adapt and they keep on smiling ❤️ I LOVE PEDIATRICS ❤️ We are getting close to fighting this beast. 🦠 Keep doing your part. Hi there! 💗 What are you doing for yourself tod Hi there! 💗 What are you doing for yourself today? 💗 I woke up early and jumped on my Peloton 🚲 I just got it (early Christmas gift) 🎅🏼 And I’m loving it! So fun! (@codyrigsby & @robinnyc are my faves) ❤️ It’s Friday! I hope that you take some time to do something for yourself this weekend! ❤️ Forget about perfect. Just be true to yourself. What does that mean to you? 🤔 For me it means exercising at least 5 times a week (when I can- and if I can’t that’s okay ) My morning coffee ☕️ Sleeping at least 7-8 hours / night 🛌 Eating healthy most of the time (whole real food!) because I feel so much better when I eat it! 🍎 🍅 🐟 Meditating for 10 minutes a day using the @headspace app (highly recommend!) 🧘 Going for walks outside on the days that I don’t workout (Being outside is therapeutic for me) 🚶‍♀️ ☀️ 🌳 Going to the beach when I can (lucky I live in Florida!) the ocean always relaxes me 🌊 Journaling when I’m feeling overwhelmed or stressed 📔 Why do I do these things? Because I feel better and happier when I do. I’ve learned to listen to my body and my mind- when I take care of both everything feels easier and I just feel better (when I forget - I feel the difference) ❤️ And..on some days I just ....relax ....eat chocolates because I love them ....eat French fries because they’re my weakness 🍟 ...stay up late watching movies and eating popcorn with m&m’s😀 Because for me, life is about taking care of myself but enjoying the things I love too, without apology. ❤️ This year I’ve spent more time with my kids and my husband and I’ve loved that part of Covid-19. ❤️ Always try to look on the bright side. What you think about is YOUR choice! ❤️ What about you? What do you love to do? What do you love to eat? Who do you love to spend time with? I’m a pediatrician that loves to write about ways to keep you and your kids physically and mentally healthy! ❤️ Today’s post is all about strength training and kids & teens 🏋🏻‍♀️ There is a misconception that resistance training (or building muscle) is not recommended for kids and teens ❤️ The truth is this couldn’t be further from the truth!! By now you’ve heard the news that the FDA and the CDC have given the okay for the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine 💉 What we know: 📌Scientists Ugur Sahin & Ozlem Tureci from Germany have dedicated their lives to the field of oncology & infectious disease. They spent years pioneering immunotherapy treatments for cancer. They changed all their focus to the Covid-19 vaccine since January 📌These same scientists wanted to “provide something for society” and have over-delivered 📌In January, after reading a scientific paper about the Coronavirus in Wuhan, China, Sahin saw a similarity in their work on anti-cancer mRNA drugs to the mRNA based viral vaccines 📌So they assigned 500 of its staff to work on the project So, in case you’re wondering, NO this wasn’t a rush to get something out there. It is the direct result of dedication and motivation. ❤️ Humans are capable of doing anything they want to do. I for one am thankful for scientists like Ugur Sahin and Ozlem Tureci, who chose to dedicate their lives to science. Hi there!👩🏻‍⚕️ It’s Doctor Vainder h Hi there!👩🏻‍⚕️ It’s Doctor Vainder here:) ❄️ Did you know that no two snowflakes are alike? It’s pretty amazing when you stop to think about it. Have you ever really looked at a snowflake? Each one beautiful, detailed & so intricate. ❄️ Funny thing is that each snowflake is made out of the same ingredients: ice crystals, H2O vapor and dust. ❄️ The size and shape of the snowflake is determined by the temperature of the cloud that it comes from and their journey down to the ground. ❄️ Their shape comes from the different water droplets that attach to it which then form ice crystals that gives it a hexagonal shape every time! ❄️ Their final shape comes from their different journeys and as they stumble and swirl from cloud to cloud & are exposed to different elements, their shape changes. In the end, they become a unique, one-of-a-kind snowflake. ❄️ So, even the ones that come from the same cloud end up different because their journey is different. 🧳 The largest snowflakes form from the clouds with the greatest amount of moisture, since more moisture creates bigger crystals. ❄️ There is so much about snowflakes that remind me of each of you. All of us are made in the same way with the same “ingredients” and all of us start our journey with the potential to become a unique & special version of ourselves. ❄️ Along the journey, you are exposed to water droplets (friends & people you meet) that stick to you and help you become who you are. As you travel through the different clouds of life (the moments in life that shape you and change you) your shape becomes more detailed. 💗 Add to this the pollen, volcanic ash (the trials and challenges you face) and you become even more beautiful. 💗 This year has been difficult & perhaps over the last few months you’ve lost some water droplets (or maybe gained some!) & you’ve been exposed to more ash & pollen than many of you cared to see in 1 year (our trials & challenges) but, I want you to remember that the largest snowflakes are the ones exposed to the most moisture (cried the most tears) & their beauty is beyond anything you could ever imagine. 💗❄️💗 The harshest of conditions create the most beautiful snowflakes

Hi there! 🙋🏻‍♀️ Dr Vainder here again! 💗 Getting a lot of questions about the Covid 19 vaccines! 💉 Take a moment to read the facts above. ❤️ Stay informed - Not scared - ALWAYS ❤️ While this type of vaccine technology is new, in a lot of ways it can end up being even safer than our traditional vaccines! 🙌🏻 The biggest challenges are the fact that the mRNA degrades easily so storage is an issue. 🤔 Another question is the long term effects since we just really don’t know since it’s the first time we have used an mRNA vaccine...BUT, so far the data shows minimal side effects. 💗 So far more than 70,000 people have taken part in phase 3 trials for both Pfizer and Moderna combined. These people will be followed for 2 years. ✌🏻 mRNA vaccines are thought to provide strong long term immunity but again we still don’t have enough data to know how long. 🤔 So, while we still have a lot to learn and many hurdles to overcome, the potential of these vaccines to help us fight off the Covid-19 pandemic may bring hope for a final end to this nightmare ❤️ And..just in case you’re wondering- it DOES NOT CAUSE INFERTILITY IN WOMEN - fake news. 📰 Covid infection has been found to lower sperm count (but we don’t know for how long) ❤️ Like I always tell my patients, two things have helped humans live longer: vaccines and hygiene. 😊 ❤️ So keep the faith and hopes for an end to Covid 19! 💗 Believe in Science 🧬 💗 #covid_19 #covid19vaccine #pediatrics #pediatrician #drvcares #drmom #womenphysicians #moms #dads #parents #faith #hope

So I wanted to reach out to let you that if you’re behind with your child’s well visit and/or vaccines - call and make your appointment! ❤️ We know that early intervention in children with developmental delays is critical. ❤️ Take a moment to look at the characteristic behaviors seen in kids with Autism. ❤️ But remember just because your child does some of these behaviors doesn’t necessarily mean they have Autism. ❤️ But if you feel they have several of these behaviors, write them down, video your child doing the behaviors and make an appointment with your pediatrician to express your concerns. ❤️ Always trust your gut. You know your child better than anyone. ❤️ You are their strongest ally. And if no one has told you today, thanks for everything you do everyday for your kids ❤️ I see you and I appreciate you. ❤️. She uses her creativity to create unique pieces that are really just AMAZING! 🎨 I’ve seen teens and tweens dancing, painting, singing, playing instruments and writing more than ever. 🎤 ✏️ 🎸 🎨 📸 Creative self expression is a beautiful way to relieve stress and clear your mind ❤️ It’s a shame that as a society we don’t encourage this more from our kids - often the arts are the first thing to go when there are budget cuts. ❤️ But it’s so much more than what you see- it’s therapy for those who create it and those who appreciate it. This is me when I was 9 💗 In third grade I wrot This is me when I was 9 💗 In third grade I wrote a book saying I wanted to be a pediatrician. 👩🏻‍⚕️ I really believed I could do and be anything. 💗 Why? Because no one ever told me I couldn’t 💗 Looking back and hearing what other women say they’ve experienced, I realize how lucky I was 💗 The biggest gift my family and my teachers ever gave me was the gift of believing in me. They told me I could do anything if I worked hard for it. 💗 I had no idea that being a hispanic girl decreased my odds- never even crossed my mind- 💗 So I believed it and went on to be what I wanted to be. 💗 Remember this the next time someone tells your child they can’t or won’t do something 💗 Be careful the words you choose when talking to your kids. Be careful the words your child chooses as truth from those around them. 💗 Everyone’s road is different, but believing in someone is free. Good morning!☀️ It’s Dr Vainder here! 👩🏻‍⚕️ I’m a pediatrician (and also a mom) who loves to share facts about ways to keep you and your child physically and mentally healthy! 💗 Today I have some not-so-good news 💔 The US has reached the over 1 million mark for kids that have tested positive for Covid 19. 🦠 Even though thankfully kids for the most part have mild illnesses, there are still so many unknowns about this virus long term after the acute illness ❤️ I know you’re tired, I am too, but we need to continue to do our part. 😷 Wear a mask (remember kids greater than 2 years old should all be wearing masks) 🤚 Wash your hands ALOT 🏠 Keep your child home if they are sick (10 days from the start of symptoms) ❤️ We all need to do our part to make it through. The numbers are increasing and our hospitals are getting full. 🏥 Stay healthy and keep your kids healthy by taking them to their well visits and keeping their other immunizations up to date 💉 ❤️ Take care of YOU too! 1:3 parents are reporting mental health issues during this pandemic for themselves ❤️ Hang in there! I’m hopeful that next year we will make some progress on our battle against this 🦠 that has changed all of our lives. It’s Dr Vainder here! 💗 I’m seeing a lot of behavioral and mental health issues in kids and teens these days 💗 For many parents this pandemic has resulted in a loss of community support and just support in general 💗 This is leaving many parents lost and confused about how to approach their child’s health. 💗 Today I want to remind you of the basics. We all need the basics before we start looking for fancy and expensive support. 💗 Spend more time educating yourself on your child’s specific basic needs. 💗 Are these being met? 💗 Prioritizing the basics is always a good idea. Today on World Kindness Day, I’m sharing with you the benefits of kindness. 💗 💕Releases feel good hormones- doing something nice for others boosts seratonin which is responsible for feelings of satisfaction and well-being “helper’s high” 💕Eases Anxiety - The most inexpensive way to ease anxiety. Studies found that people who engaged in acts of kindness, actually increased their positive moods such as joy, interest and altertness. - this lasted upto 4 weeks after the event 💕Kindness releases Oxytocin which is a hormone that releases nitric oxide in blood vessels. This reduces blood pressure and is known as the cardio-protective hormone! ❤️ 💕Studies show that a strong network of family, friends and relationships reduces your risk of heart disease, helps you live longer, age more gracefully! 😂, and feel overall happier! 💕Reduces Stress - When You help others, you get outside of yourself and shift your focus to someone else. This gives you a break from the stress in your life 😉 💗 See!! You get a lot of benefits too!! Things I don’t love about Covid is wearing all o Things I don’t love about Covid is wearing all of this PPE (though thankful to have it for sure!) 😷 But I miss smiling at the kids 😀 I thought my patients would be scared of me looking like an 👽 But...it turns out that they didn’t even blink! ❤️ I get a lot of squinty eyes over masks (2020’s version of a smile) and babies still smile when I use my “Elmo voice” 😂 Kids are just amazing ❤️ They adapt and they keep on smiling ❤️ I LOVE PEDIATRICS ❤️ We are getting close to fighting this beast. 🦠 Keep doing your part. Hi there! 💗 What are you doing for yourself tod Hi there! 💗 What are you doing for yourself today? 💗 I woke up early and jumped on my Peloton 🚲 I just got it (early Christmas gift) 🎅🏼 And I’m loving it! So fun! (@codyrigsby & @robinnyc are my faves) ❤️ It’s Friday! I hope that you take some time to do something for yourself this weekend! ❤️ Forget about perfect. Just be true to yourself. What does that mean to you? 🤔 For me it means exercising at least 5 times a week (when I can- and if I can’t that’s okay ) My morning coffee ☕️ Sleeping at least 7-8 hours / night 🛌 Eating healthy most of the time (whole real food!) because I feel so much better when I eat it! 🍎 🍅 🐟 Meditating for 10 minutes a day using the @headspace app (highly recommend!) 🧘 Going for walks outside on the days that I don’t workout (Being outside is therapeutic for me) 🚶‍♀️ ☀️ 🌳 Going to the beach when I can (lucky I live in Florida!) the ocean always relaxes me 🌊 Journaling when I’m feeling overwhelmed or stressed 📔 Why do I do these things? Because I feel better and happier when I do. I’ve learned to listen to my body and my mind- when I take care of both everything feels easier and I just feel better (when I forget - I feel the difference) ❤️ And..on some days I just ....relax ....eat chocolates because I love them ....eat French fries because they’re my weakness 🍟 ...stay up late watching movies and eating popcorn with m&m’s😀 Because for me, life is about taking care of myself but enjoying the things I love too, without apology. ❤️ This year I’ve spent more time with my kids and my husband and I’ve loved that part of Covid-19. ❤️ Always try to look on the bright side. What you think about is YOUR choice! ❤️ What about you? What do you love to do? What do you love to eat? Who do you love to spend time with? By now you’ve heard the news that the FDA and the CDC have given the okay for the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine 💉 What we know: 📌Scientists Ugur Sahin & Ozlem Tureci from Germany have dedicated their lives to the field of oncology & infectious disease. They spent years pioneering immunotherapy treatments for cancer. They changed all their focus to the Covid-19 vaccine since January 📌These same scientists wanted to “provide something for society” and have over-delivered 📌In January, after reading a scientific paper about the Coronavirus in Wuhan, China, Sahin saw a similarity in their work on anti-cancer mRNA drugs to the mRNA based viral vaccines 📌So they assigned 500 of its staff to work on the project So, in case you’re wondering, NO this wasn’t a rush to get something out there. It is the direct result of dedication and motivation. ❤️ Humans are capable of doing anything they want to do. Have you ever really looked at a snowflake? Each one beautiful, detailed & so intricate. ❄️ Funny thing is that each snowflake is made out of the same ingredients: ice crystals, H2O vapor and dust. ❄️ The size and shape of the snowflake is determined by the temperature of the cloud that it comes from and their journey down to the ground. ❄️ Their shape comes from the different water droplets that attach to it which then form ice crystals that gives it a hexagonal shape every time! ❄️ Their final shape comes from their different journeys and as they stumble and swirl from cloud to cloud & are exposed to different elements, their shape changes. In the end, they become a unique, one-of-a-kind snowflake. ❄️ So, even the ones that come from the same cloud end up different because their journey is different. 🧳 The largest snowflakes form from the clouds with the greatest amount of moisture, since more moisture creates bigger crystals. ❄️ There is so much about snowflakes that remind me of each of you. All of us are made in the same way with the same “ingredients” and all of us start our journey with the potential to become a unique & special version of ourselves. ❄️ Along the journey, you are exposed to water droplets (friends & people you meet) that stick to you and help you become who you are. As you travel through the different clouds of life (the moments in life that shape you and change you) your shape becomes more detailed. 💗 Add to this the pollen, volcanic ash (the trials and challenges you face) and you become even more beautiful. 💗 This year has been difficult & perhaps over the last few months you’ve lost some water droplets (or maybe gained some!) & you’ve been exposed to more ash & pollen than many of you cared to see in 1 year (our trials & challenges) but, I want you to remember that the largest snowflakes are the ones exposed to the most moisture (cried the most tears) & their beauty is beyond anything you could ever imagine. 💗❄️💗 The harshest of conditions create the most beautiful snowflakes

Hi there! 🙋🏻‍♀️ Dr Vainder here again! 💗 Getting a lot of questions about the Covid 19 vaccines! 💉 Take a moment to read the facts above. ❤️ Stay informed - Not scared - ALWAYS ❤️ While this type of vaccine technology is new, in a lot of ways it can end up being even safer than our traditional vaccines! 🙌🏻 The biggest challenges are the fact that the mRNA degrades easily so storage is an issue. 🤔 Another question is the long term effects since we just really don’t know since it’s the first time we have used an mRNA vaccine...BUT, so far the data shows minimal side effects. 💗 So far more than 70,000 people have taken part in phase 3 trials for both Pfizer and Moderna combined. These people will be followed for 2 years. ✌🏻 mRNA vaccines are thought to provide strong long term immunity but again we still don’t have enough data to know how long. 🤔 So, while we still have a lot to learn and many hurdles to overcome, the potential of these vaccines to help us fight off the Covid-19 pandemic may bring hope for a final end to this nightmare ❤️ And..just in case you’re wondering- it DOES NOT CAUSE INFERTILITY IN WOMEN - fake news. 📰 Covid infection has been found to lower sperm count (but we don’t know for how long) ❤️ Like I always tell my patients, two things have helped humans live longer: vaccines and hygiene. 😊 ❤️ So keep the faith and hopes for an end to Covid 19! 💗 Believe in Science 🧬 💗 #covid_19 #covid19vaccine #pediatrics #pediatrician #drvcares #drmom #womenphysicians #moms #dads #parents #faith #hope

So I wanted to reach out to let you that if you’re behind with your child’s well visit and/or vaccines - call and make your appointment! ❤️ We know that early intervention in children with developmental delays is critical. ❤️ Take a moment to look at the characteristic behaviors seen in kids with Autism. ❤️ But remember just because your child does some of these behaviors doesn’t necessarily mean they have Autism. ❤️ But if you feel they have several of these behaviors, write them down, video your child doing the behaviors and make an appointment with your pediatrician to express your concerns. ❤️ Always trust your gut. This is me when I was 9 💗 In third grade I wrot This is me when I was 9 💗 In third grade I wrote a book saying I wanted to be a pediatrician. 👩🏻‍⚕️ I really believed I could do and be anything. 💗 Why? Because no one ever told me I couldn’t 💗 Looking back and hearing what other women say they’ve experienced, I realize how lucky I was 💗 The biggest gift my family and my teachers ever gave me was the gift of believing in me. They told me I could do anything if I worked hard for it. 💗 I had no idea that being a hispanic girl decreased my odds- never even crossed my mind- 💗 So I believed it and went on to be what I wanted to be. 💗 Remember this the next time someone tells your child they can’t or won’t do something 💗 Be careful the words you choose when talking to your kids. Be careful the words your child chooses as truth from those around them. 💗 Everyone’s road is different, but believing in someone is free. Good morning!☀️ It’s Dr Vainder here! 👩🏻‍⚕️ I’m a pediatrician (and also a mom) who loves to share facts about ways to keep you and your child physically and mentally healthy! 💗 Today I have some not-so-good news 💔 The US has reached the over 1 million mark for kids that have tested positive for Covid 19. 🦠 Even though thankfully kids for the most part have mild illnesses, there are still so many unknowns about this virus long term after the acute illness ❤️ I know you’re tired, I am too, but we need to continue to do our part. 😷 Wear a mask (remember kids greater than 2 years old should all be wearing masks) 🤚 Wash your hands ALOT 🏠 Keep your child home if they are sick (10 days from the start of symptoms) ❤️ We all need to do our part to make it through. Today on World Kindness Day, I’m sharing with you the benefits of kindness. 💗 💕Releases feel good hormones- doing something nice for others boosts seratonin which is responsible for feelings of satisfaction and well-being “helper’s high” 💕Eases Anxiety - The most inexpensive way to ease anxiety. Studies found that people who engaged in acts of kindness, actually increased their positive moods such as joy, interest and altertness. - this lasted upto 4 weeks after the event 💕Kindness releases Oxytocin which is a hormone that releases nitric oxide in blood vessels. This reduces blood pressure and is known as the cardio-protective hormone! ❤️ 💕Studies show that a strong network of family, friends and relationships reduces your risk of heart disease, helps you live longer, age more gracefully! 😂, and feel overall happier! 💕Reduces Stress - When You help others, you get outside of yourself and shift your focus to someone else. This gives you a break from the stress in your life 😉 💗 See!! You get a lot of benefits too!!
